Canadian companies interested in Serbian Energy Sector

Canadian companies are interested in investing in the Serbian energy sector and air and road transport, especially in the hydroelectric power plant Bistrica and Pancevo-based Azotara, Ambassador of Canada to Belgrade Romano Vaschuk announced today.

At a meeting with Minister for Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic, Mr. Vaschuk said that Canadian companies had expressed interest in investing in Bistrica hydroelectric power plant, as well as in an initiative to invest in Azotara in Pancevo in association with Srbijagas, which would raise the level of production at that fertilizer plant.

The competent ministry also announced a cooperation between the Canadian airplane manufacturer Bombardier and the Serbian flag carrier Jat Ariways.

Therefore, representatives of the leading Canadian companies will soon visit Serbia, Ambassador Vaschuk and Director of the Trade Department of the Canadian Embassy to Belgrade Djurdja Ceramilac announced.

The meeting between Minister Mrkonjic and the Canadian ambassador was also attended by Srbijagas CEO Dusan Bajatovic who informed the guests on relevant energy projects in Serbia.
