The public company Putevi Srbije has applied for a EUR 300 million loan from the World Bank (WB), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the reconstruction of roads in Serbia, Putevi Srbije CEO Zoran Drobnjak stated on December 10th.

– Everything is ready. As soon as the government, that is, the Ministry of Finance, agrees on the terms of that loan, we will start drawing the money – Drobnjak said in an interview for Tanjug news agency, adding that Putevi Srbije might take the first tranche as early as in May 2012 and remaining tranches over the period of next four years.

– We have finished all projects and so far met the requirements of the World Bank and two European banks… – said Drobnjak.

He also explained that a total of EUR 2-2.2 billion were required for the rehabilitation of about 16,000 kilometers of important roads in our country.

Drobnjak stressed that a tender would be announced for the maintenance of highway, semi-highway, main route and regional road network in the country, for the first time in 19 years.

– We will announce a call for pre-qualification until November. Companies able to maintain road network can apply for the job – he pointed out and added that it was a public procurement for the needs of maintenance of about 16,000 kilometers of roads.

He said he expected the companies that were already doing that job to apply again, explaining that there were no other companies for such works in Serbia, and added that companies within Nibens Group, which was financially insolvent, would also be able to apply for that job.

– The companies applying for the job must have the necessary equipment for road maintenance and an asphalt base – said Drobnjak.
