Renovation of hydroelectric power plant in Mali Zvornik – Investment worth

, Uncategorized

A hydroelectric power plant in Mali Zvornik, the oldest power plant on the Drina river and part of the business organization Drinsko-Limske Hidroelektrane (Drina-Lim Hydroelectric Power Plants), is awaiting revitalization. According to authorized people, preparation of the project documentation is underway, while the investment in the reconstruction of the power plant in Mali Zvornik will amount to about EUR 95 million.

MP Mihailo Puric says that the German Development Bank has granted a EUR 70 million loan for that purpose and that the rest will be provided by the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS). By the way, most of the equipment in Zvornik hydroelectric power plant has not been changed for over 55 years, that is, ever since the plant was put in operation. By the time the revitalization starts, some vital parts of the plant will have been in use twice longer than projected.

– The power of Zvornik hydroelectric power plant will be increased by 25% and there will be no need for similar works over the next 30 to 45 years. The aim of this project is also to increase the average annual production from 477 to 571 kWh, while the works are expected to commence next year – says Mr. Puric.
