Romania: Engie gets green light to acquire 80 MW wind park

, Uncategorized

French energy company Engie gets approval from the Romanian Competition Council for the proposed acquisition of an 80 MW wind project in the Dobrogea region.

The Council said that Engie Romania will buy the project’s owner EP Wind Project (Rom) Six SA. According to its decision, the transaction will not raise any concerns that would distort the competitive market environment in Romania.

The target entity owns and operates a wind power plant in the commune of Chirnogeni, Constanta County. The park is equipped with 32 Nordex turbines that have been generating electricity since end-2013. Their combined annual output of 180 GWh is enough to meet the electricity demand of 90,000 homes.

Engie Romania announced plans for the acquisition in January, without disclosing the financial details. The deal supports its efforts to grow its presence on the Romanian market and lift its installed renewable energy capacity in the country to 1 GW by 2030.
